Naturopathic Doctor・Menopause Society Certified Practitioner・Educator・Adventurer・Mom

Dr. Caitlin O'Connor pediatric and family naturopathic doctor in Denver

WELCOME

I’m a Naturopathic Doctor based in Denver, Colorado, specializing in women’s and children’s health. I believe in the power of compassionate, whole-body care.  I help patients understand their symptoms, find balance and achieve their health goals

Whether we’re working together in my Denver clinic or connecting through telehealth, my goal is always the same:

  • Listen deeply

  • Simplify the path forward

  • Help you thrive

I’ve never experienced a healthcare provider who goes this in-depth to find the root cause.

“I’ve been seeing Dr. Caitlin for years, and she is truly amazing. She was the only provider who was able to help me finally understand and treat my health issues. She doesn’t just address the immediate problem, she digs deeper, asks the right questions, and looks at the whole picture.

I’ve never experienced a healthcare provider who goes this in-depth to find the root cause, create a full treatment plan, follow up consistently, and adjust as needed. She genuinely cares, and it shows in every visit.

Dr. Caitlin is an absolute gem, and I’m so thankful for her guidance and support through all phases of life. I've sent all of my friends and family to her. Highly recommend!”

My Philosophy of Care

My favorite thing about naturopathic medicine is the philosophy that guides our approach to care. Many people assume it’s just conventional medicine with herbs and supplements instead of pharmaceuticals and surgery — but that couldn’t be further from the truth. In reality, medications, surgery, and other conventional practices can all be part of naturopathic care. What makes us different is our focus on finding the right treatment for the right patient at the right time. It is never one-size-fits-all.

We draw from an expansive toolkit, often beginning with gentle, low-force interventions before increasing the complexity of care. We also consider patient preferences, values, and the practicality of each plan. This starts with truly listening — taking a detailed history, gathering the right information, and looking beyond labs and physical exams to assess the whole person: mind, body, and spirit.

I strive to create a judgment-free, open, and honest space where patients have the time to share their full story. Together, we build treatment plans that feel accessible, sustainable, and effective. What works for one person may not work for another, and there is no rigid ideology in my office — only a commitment to what will truly support each patient.

My goal is to help people create joy, freedom, and flexibility in their bodies, rather than feeling stuck in restriction or punishment. A naturopathic approach to health doesn’t have to be strict or boring — it should support you in doing what feels good and right in your own body.

THERE’S NO ONE’S OPINION I TRUST MORE WHEN IT COMES TO MY HEALTH.

“Dr. Caitlin has cared for me and my family for years. There is no one’s opinion I trust more when it comes to my health. She always knows just the thing to offer for improving my quality of life. She is a rare gem of a doctor as she has a down to earth approach, and clearly does her research staying up to date within her field. I also value her queer affirming, post 40+ care and it’s so great to know there is someone who has a holistic approach to care and is so inclusive. Highly, highly recommend!”

My Journey in Medicine

I attended the University of Colorado–Boulder for my undergraduate studies, majoring in Anthropology and Business. Once I discovered naturopathic medicine, I returned to complete nearly two additional years of pre-med coursework. I went on to graduate from Bastyr University, completing a five-year accredited program that included a two-year internship at the university’s Seattle clinic. I then completed a one-year Family Practice residency at the National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon.

I also earned a certificate in Naturopathic Midwifery, participating in the births of more than 100 babies — including time in the labor and delivery ward of the only hospital on the island of Vanuatu in the South Pacific. While I no longer attend births, I draw on that experience with mothers and babies every day in my clinical work.

In medicine, learning is never done. The research is always evolving, patient needs are changing, and a doctor’s interests and passions are (hopefully) always growing. I attend (and often speak at) multiple conferences each year and am a member of several professional organizations to stay up to date with the latest research and best practices.  I am a member of the Perelel Panel of experts where I provide guidance on product formulation and safety. I also serve on the Naturopathic Advisory Board for the State of Colorado, helping ensure safe access to naturopathic care in our state.

“Dr. Caitlin is the first practitioner to make headway with my health issues. After I saw specialist after specialist, she took a thorough review of my health history and labs, then recommended a thoughtful, steady approach that is making a difference in my health and overall quality of life. Life Beyond My Practice

Outside of the office, I’m an optimist, a lifelong learner, and an explorer who loves learning new skills and thrives when planning a new adventure.

In my personal life, I strive to be a grounded mother, a supportive partner, and a good friend — to myself and to others.

I was born and raised in Milwaukee, moved to Denver at 15. I attended East High School and University of Colorado-Boulder before moving to naturopathic medical school in the Pacific Northwest. I’ve been back home for the past 20 years, where I’m lucky to be surrounded by local family and lifelong friends. My husband and I have two sons, and we’re currently navigating the middle school years — an adventure in its own right. We also have two middle-aged dogs.

I’m a total sporty spice! I played college and club rugby for nearly 15 years, and I love staying active and spending time outdoors with the people I love. Snowboarding and splitboarding, hiking, backpacking, camping, lifting weights, pickleball, pilates and training jiu-jitsu (my newest hobby) all make the list. I dream of becoming a park ranger as a second career. I currently volunteer as a backcountry ranger with the Grand County Wilderness Group and have my Wilderness First Aid certification.

When I’m at home, you’ll usually find me reading, catching up on good TV, cuddling my kids and pets, and prioritizing a really good night’s sleep.

If you feel like we’d be a good fit, I would truly love to meet you. Please reach out to schedule an appointment. I look forward to connecting!
